Bonus Bonding Day - Last Day of Trip #1

Today was a bittersweet day for us. Although we are thrilled to be coming home, we are very sad to be leaving Max. It was definitely harder than we expected to say goodbye. We are not sure if he was picking up a vibe from us, but Max was in a cranky mood today. This picture sums up how he was today.

There were some smiles and some laughs, but it was not like our usual bonding time. (I think Max had been counting our bonding days and knew yesterday was day #15 and so he knew today must be our last day with him. Damn, he's smart) It was an extremely hot day and Max was still wearing two layers and he was still suffering from a cold, so all of that combined was probably contributing to his crankiness. He wasn't all that interested in his toys like usual, so we did a lot of walking around holding him (which was nice for our last day). He did get to enjoy one last Cheerio-time before his caregiver (one of our favorites) came to get him.

This afternoon, we had a brief meeting with our attorney to sign some papers and we had to get some pictures developed for the photo book that goes with our court documents. We are now back at the apartment and ready to finish packing for our long day and a half of traveling to return home. We leave tomorrow at 10am and we're back in Cincinnati Sunday afternoon.
We would like to take a moment to thank everyone for your support during this first half of our adoption journey. When we left home, we were nervous and unsure about how things would turn out; but now that we have spent these two weeks with Max, we know that we have found the child meant for us. And we can't wait to get back here and bring him home for good!

  1. Congrats on completing the first half of the journey!! The next trip is much longer but you are on the final countdown! Wish we knew about the kabobs! Did you try the meat pies at the stand in front of the grocery store? They thought Leah caught a cold from the cold apple juice we gave her also! It's funny because she was sick the entire bonding visits in Kaz and hasn't had 1 cold since she is home! Safe travels!

  2. Scott and Jenny,
Thank you for sharing these special days with all of us. We are grateful that you have allowed us to take each step along the way with you - and know that we will all be here for you as you return home to begin your life as a family. Max is a very lucky child to be loved by the two of you. Can't wait til he gets to come home and start the party! Safe journey....
with much love (and many tears of joy),

  3. If Max sticks his tongue out like Jenny, who does he take after with his little poopy lip in the first picture? I'm sure he senses something is up but he doesn't know about the incredible journey that lies ahead for him. He will soon be home with his "forever family." What an abundance of love awaits his arrival! Many prayers for safe travels and we will see you soon!
