Well, our flights on trip #1 went smooth as silk, so we knew things could not possibly go so well again. We sat in the Cincinnati airport waiting for our plane to LEAVE Chicago so that it could land, empty its passesngers, load us onto the plane, and then get us to Chicago. We weren't too concerned about this snafu however, because we had a 5+ hour layover in Chicago. The delay in leaving Cincy just shortened our long layover. Our flight from Chicago to London was scheduled to leave at 6pm local time. We boarded on time, but then sat in the plane at the gate while we waited for another plane from Orlando to arrive and send some of its passengers to our plane! Since when do we have to wait for EVERYONE to be on board? Our London to Frankfurt flight wasn't going to wait for us. Since our London layover was a short hour and a half, we were concerned about making it with the delay in leaving Chicago. We landed at Heathrow with about 20 minutes to make it across the airport, pass through security, and get to our gate. We made it with the assistance of the Lufthansa rep who had already checked us in and assigned us seats and escorted us to our gate.
Our luggage was not so fortunate. Even though we were able to board the plane (with time to spare mind you), our four large suitcases were stuck in London. The Frankfurt to Almaty flight was fine (although looong), but our bags were not here. We were called to the lost and found station where another nice Lufthansa guy explained that we would not get our bags tonight, but instead would have to wait until Thursday morning. So that means we will be wearing the same clothes from Monday through Thursday. Lovely. He was nice enough to include a toiletry kit that has no soap, but does include a XXL undershirt. Sweet. We're all set with the shampoo, razor, and brush.
It is about 2am Almaty time and we are sitting in the airport waiting for our 7am flight to Aktobe to board and take us to see Max. At least that is what we are hoping for. We do not know if we will be allowed to visit on Wednesday, but we hope so. Of course, we'll have none of his toys to bring with us.
Hopefully, we'll have a more positive post once we have gotten to Aktobe and settled in.

Oh, maaaaaaan. That TOTALLY stinks! (You probably do, too!) Hopefully you'll get your luggage soon! I'm trying to figure out the time difference, here. Are you still in the Almaty airport?? Aqtobe is different from Almaty, right? Is it 2 hours earlier?? I thought I was exhausted today, but I think you definitely win the prize! GOOD LUCK. We will say some luggage prayers for you and tell Max we can't wait to kiss his little toes! Be sure and do another update soon!!
