Just a quick post on our last day before custody.
We did some cleaning today and did some shopping for groceries in preparation for the big day. We also met Alan and Melinda at the Business Centre (yet another mall). Jonathan and Shannon had recommended it to us (thanks!) because there is a pub there with an English menu. We all had pizza tonight which was much better than at the bowling alley because this pizza had sauce. It was still pretty greasy, but still pretty tasty.
Now that we're back at the apartment, we are going to put together all the gifts we will need tomorrow. One for each of the six caregivers, one for the babyhouse doctor, and one for the orphanage director. Then we're going to eat some ice cream and try to watch the Elder game against Colerain online. Hopefully the internet connection will allow us. If not, then we're going to TRY to get some sleep.
So please say some prayers tonight and tomorrow for Max so that he has a smooth transition to his new, forever family. We are prepared for some bumps in the road, but all prayers will be gratefully accepted. We know that he is going to miss his caregivers tremendously. He has been our son to us since day one back in May, but we know that we are not yet mom and dad to him yet. That will come in time.

I'm sure tomorrow will go by very quickly for you all. Lots of extra prayers for everyone involved. (I'll say an extra one for Scott. When Max starts eating more types of food, look out for those diapers!)
ReplyDeleteI will be anxiously awaiting the next post from you.
Sending love and prayers for your family.
Yeah!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad they don't celebrate Labor Day in Kaz.
You must post, no matter how tired you are, on your gotcha day.
Hi you guys! Just catching up on your posts and getting soooo excited for you! You're probably getting ready for bed right now and your minds are spinning about tomorrow! I will keep you in my heart all day long and be sending positive vibes your way. Oh, how I remember that time. And you will be so glad to never step foot in that blue bonding room again! :-)
ReplyDeleteYour are right to prepare yourself for some tough days during this transition. It is likely that Max will mourn very heavily. Milo became a wreck. Just keep patience, love and compassion in your hearts. It will take time time time.
I agree with the caregivers that Max has grown even more beautiful since you came into his life. That handsome face and that wide, generous smile are just heartmelting. He really sparkles more and more with each post. :-) His behavior or wanting to be passed back and forth between you is typical of the attachment process. Milo behaved similarly for weeks even after we got home...And it manifested itself in other ways too (In the tub, out of the tub, back in, back out. In the wagon, out of the wagon, back in, and back out...) It became exasperating at times, but it finally faded! :-)
We ate at the pub in the Business Center A LOT! If you get back there again (don't know if you plan on venturing there with Max), order the Greek Salad. It's wonderful. But we liked their pizza too.
Good luck tomorrow bring your son into your life 24/7! And feel free to write if you have any questions we can help with.
Scott and Jenny,
ReplyDeleteI will say some extra prayers for you all. He is going to love being with you, I can just tell. Wow, I am speechless right now thinking that tomorrow at this time, you will have your "long-awaited one". Enjoy every moment and we can't wait to see more "family photos".
Best wishes!
