Appeals Period - Day 2

We had an excellent day with Max this morning. He was in very good spirits and seems to remember us more and more each day. Our translator has been suffering from a cold this week, so we told her to stay home today. That means we had the room all to ourselves today which was nice. He was very giggly and had lots of fun. And he was even giving kisses again.

The most exciting thing today was that Max took his first unassisted steps! Just a few short feet, but it was the first time he has taken any steps without holding on to the bench, or a chair, or our hands. It was very cute how surprised he was by being able to do it without holding on. He seemed very proud of himself with each trip back and forth.

Most of the visit was our usual routine, with the drum added to the mix. He can't seem to get enough of playing with that drum.

Fun with the drum.

We saw his toes for the first time yesterday, but we figured we would post a picture today.

Playing with his squishy bus from Uncle Tim.

This evening, we finally went out to dinner at Kemer to celebrate the court ruling. The chicken kebabs (shashlik) were delicious. They actually have a new menu and it contains English translations, so perhaps another time we might try something else since we'll know what we're ordering.
13 more days until we receive custody!!!

  1. Whoopee!! GREAT POST today!! I am so glad you were there for those steps -- you will now officially be chasing a toddler for the next couple years! I am smiling ear to ear. The kids are eating lunch right now but I can't wait to show them the videos and pix from today. Go, Max!

    Love,
    Laura

    P.S. Thanks for the toes.

  5. How neat for you to get to see Max's first
steps. That must have been an extra little gift the Lord saved just for you. Wait till
you see how soon he will learn how to run.
And, that is really cute to see also.
I am really looking forward to meeting Max in person. With all your sharing I feel like I already know him. It's kind of like a pen pal. It is so great that you have been sharing all the pictures.

  6. watching his first steps was not nearly as fun as watching you both react to them...what amazing parents you already are. :) and i love that he went from timid steps to practically sprinting into your arms. thinking of you all the time...
